BFA Indoor Championships 29/30 October 2016

British Flyball Advances

History was made on 29th and 30th of October this year, when the very first British Indoor Flyball Championship was held at the Showground in Newark, which TimeFlyZ were thrilled to attend.

Summer 2016 was a busy time for us in preparation for this event, with two teams qualified and some new and very exciting line ups! Many of our baby dogs were due to compete in their first championship too and we were ready to hit the lanes running. However, with just a couple of weeks to go, we hit a problem. Sadly our top team height dog had to be pulled from racing due to injury meaning we had to withdraw one of our teams.

Despite this set-back, we came together as a team to agree which dogs would and wouldn’t compete. After some tough decision making and challenging team planning, our final line up consisted of Roxy, Jasper, Logan, Flicka, Henna and Peggy Sue.

The day started early as we were the first race in. The dogs felt fresh and happy and we came away with our first win of the day. We continued to race hard throughout the day, with some tight finishes and were absolutely thrilled to come away winning four out of five races, making us Division 9 winners!

We feel very privileged and proud to have taken part in the first indoor championship, made even more special by our divisional win. This event was a showcase of some amazing flyball. Congratulations to High Flyers for taking the British and European Record, and also to the Saltires for becoming the first ever BFA Indoor Championship Division 1 Champions.

It’s time now for some winter training, with our next competitions in the new year. We are hoping all of our dogs will be fighting fit and ready to race, so we’ll see you all again in the lanes in 2017!
